Venue Purpose

We are not a bar, coffee house or pizza place, and we do not have a built in crowd.
We are an All-Ages Music Venue. We put on CONCERTS.
We provide a fun, safe environment for people to see up-and-coming local and national bands.
We provide bands with a place to play that is unique and creative.
We expect you to act responsibly. Support the scene that supports YOU.
Acting responsibly includes:
promoting your show
bringing as many people out to see you as possible
respecting the other bands on the show
never "dropping" a show last minute or without notification
arriving on time
maintaining communcation with the show's organizers
respecting the rules and regulations of the venue

Expected Draw

All bands are expected to contribute to the show's draw. Do whatever it takes to draw AT LEAST 10 people!*

Bands that draw less than 10 people will not likely be asked to play again.
If you do draw exceptionally well you will definitely be rewarded in the future!
You might even have the opportunity to play the BIG shows with signed national touring acts too!

* 10 people is our general requirement. If this is a BIGGER show and you've been told to draw a specific number that should be your goal.

YOUR DRAW IS IMPORTANT! The people you bring to shows, pay for the shows. Rent, sound guy, promoter, security, bands, etc. We are not a bar or coffee house; there is no "built in" crowd. Essentially all of our revenue comes directly from the people you bring out to see you. The survival of an all ages venues like us depends on your ability to get people out to shows!

We do everything we can to promote the shows thru myspace, facebook, twitter, broadtexter, and thru printed flyers and posters at the venue. However the ultimate success of the show depends on YOU! We've had 450+ people in attendance and we've had less than 10. Our shows are what you make of them!

JT Music, Inc. has owned, operated or booked over 5 different venues around Chicagoland with no intentions to slow down! We have worked with thousands of bands and hosted almost 1000 shows! If you do well for us, we will return the favor thru more shows, at more venues, in different areas, with better time slots, with better, bigger bands...and ultimately more exposure for your band to help take you to the next level!

We communicate regularly with other promoters, venue owners, etc. so word about your band...good or bad...will get around. :)

Band Compensation

Unless special arrangements have been made or you are non-local touring band you will be paid based upon your draw as follows:
DrawPayment
0-9\$0
10-19\$1 per person
20+\$2 (for each person beyond $20)

Bands are only paid upon request. Many bands choose not to receive payment to support the venue. That is, of course, very much appreciated. However, if you want/need to be paid, simply ask.

Promotion

We put out a monthly listing of shows, send out show listing through our mailing list, and keep our schedule on our website / myspace up to date. Each band is expected to print their own flyers for each show and distribute them. Shows at COSMOS are what you make of them. All shows are All-Ages. Running an all-ages venue is not cheap, and cannot afford to have shows with no attendees, so you must promote the show as much as possible.

Take advantage of myspace/facebook to the fullest. Change your default picture to the flyer for your show. Change your display name to YOURBANDNAME {is playing lighthouse on DATE} or something similar. Comment all your friends! Post bulletins! Come to another JT Music show to promote your upcoming JT Music show! You will be allowed in for free if you have flyers to pass out! Pass out flyers at other venues! Tell all your friends/family/fans!

Rules

We ask that you please take care of the facilities and the surrounding areas. We are doing our best to keep a safe, clean environment to insure people will come back, as well as spread the word that The Korova is a great place to see bands. Please be aware that if you break something, you will be asked to pay for it. If you trash the place, you will be asked to clean it up (i.e. throwing toilet paper, confetti, water, etc.). More than likely, if it is something major, you will not be allowed to come back. These are the same restrictions we put on the people in front of the stage watching you. If we don't take care of what we have, it will inevitably close and leave everyone out in the cold. Please keep this in mind and help us help you by taking care of it and letting the management know if something is going on that shouldn't be. The Korova is always a NO SMOKING venue. There is a smoking area outside. At The Korova there are NO ALCOHOL, DRUGS, OR MIND ALTERING SUBSTANCES and NO WEAPONS OF ANY KIND allowed on the premises. We reserve the right to inspect any and all persons and items on the premises. Failure to comply will result in removal from the premises. We're trying to keep this place alive, so try to abide by these rules and everyone will have fun.
